Currently Inked - March 2021

First up this month is my Aurora Optima "O Sole Mio" in black and orange. I have two nibs for this one - currently it's fitted with a "long-tines" nib from the 1990s, ostensibly a medium, and filled with a mixture of two Robert Oster inks, Clay Red and Maroon 1789.  The resulting mix has some lovely shading that even this relatively fine nib demonstrates really well.

Next up, my Lamy 2000 black Makrolon. Again I have two nibs for this one - at the moment it's fitted with a 14k extra-fine nib that is not noticeably finer than the Aurora and filled with Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki - one of my absolute favourite blue inks. A classic work combination.

Another hooded nib up third - this time inside a Parker 45 in navy blue with a steel cap and gold trim. Only a steel nib, but the flow is good and this is another excellent everyday writer.  Filled in this case with Aurora Black.

A curiosity to finish - this is a Pilot Birdie, fitted with a fine steel nib and filled with Diamine Pumpkin.  A diminutive homage to the Parker 25, but with one of those wet fine steel nibs that somehow only Pilot are able to produce - or at least were able to produce twenty years ago...
